This Sunday 1st of June, Intermarché-Wanty left the Boucles de la Mayenne with another podium finish thanks to Biniam Girmay's efforts in the streets of Laval.
Just like in the first stage, the Eritrean rider finished off the work of his teammates by authoritatively winning the bunch sprint for second place, only beaten by the breakaway rider Marcus Mayrhofer, who won solo at the end of the 160 kilometer race.
This is the fifth podium of the season for Biniam Girmay, and the fourth time in less than a month that he has reached the second step of the podium, confirming his growing strength just over a month before the Tour de France.
"Marcus Mayrhofer was impressive because the pace was very fast in the chasing peloton. Hats off to him for this victory. For me, it's another second place, my fourth in a row. Even though it's disappointing to come so close to the win, I'm looking at the positive side with a lot of confidence regarding my condition for the Tour de France. Several finishes similar to today's await me on the Tour stages, so I have good hope of being able to make it happen."
