Simone Petilli underwent successful surgery on his right collarbone at the BG Klinikum Unfallkrankenhaus hospital Berlin on Monday 10th of March, following a crash during the Strade Bianche last Saturday.
Thanks to close collaboration between the hospital in Berlin and Intermarché-Wanty, the Italian climber received prompt care after his crash from the team led by Philipp-J. Braun, head of the Department of Sports Traumatology.
"Simone had successful surgery on his fractured right collarbone. He could leave the hospital this Tuesday morning thanks to the excellent care provided at the BG Klinikum Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin. We expect him to be able to resume training on the rollers after a week of rest. He should be capable to resume outdoor sessions two weeks after his operation and continue his preparation for the Giro d'Italia. We are closely monitoring his recovery to plan his timely return to competition."
