After Julius Johansen in the prologue, Frenchman Hugo Page also obtained his very first World Tour podium this Saturday, finishing third in the fourth stage of Tour Down Under.
Page has been very regular since the start of the event, taking sixth in the prologue and seventh in Tanunda the next day. This Saturday he received the support of the whole team leading to the sprint on the circuit around Willunga.
The race was decided with more than 70 kilometer to go when crosswinds split the peloton behind a leading duo. In addition to Page, Intermarché-Circus-Wanty was represented in the first echelon by Taco van der Hoorn, Dion Smith and Sven Erik Bystrøm.
23 kilometer before the finish line Hugo Page won the second intermediate sprint and three bonus seconds. The first peloton of around 40 riders sprinted for the victory on a slightly uphill finish.
With his third place, Hugo Page obtained four additional bonus seconds. He is now eighth in the provisional classification with one day to go, just behind his teammate Sven Erik Bystrøm.
