Milano-Torino

Rein Taaramäe’s climbing legs are on point

The climb towards Superga (4.9km at 9%) was the decisive element on the parcours of Milano-Torino (1.Pro, 6/10), where climbers could battle for the win. But surprisingly they started the battle earlier, even before the first passage on the principal attraction of the day. With the help of crosswinds, the peloton was split 50 kilometer before the finish.

Estonian rider Rein Taaramäe, who offered the team a prestigious victory on top of the Picon Blanco in the Tour of Spain, again showed his climbing legs by joining the first peloton in the first passage of the Superga. This effort enabled him to approach the final climb of the day with the favorites. On top of the climb, he crossed the line in 14th position, less than one minute behind Primoz Roglic.
