The seventh and penultimate stage in Paris-Nice (2.UWT) brought the riders from Nice to the Col de Turini on 1600 meter of altitude, after a stage of 155 kilometer. The contenders for the general classification could make use of the challenging slopes of the col of 15 kilometer with an average gradient over 7%.
German rider Georg Zimmermann, who finished fourteenth in the splistream of Biniam Girmay in Aubagne one day before, was the first rider of the World Team to cross the finish line in 23rd position. The 21 year old Eritrean rider, who finished three times in the top ten this week, left the race in order to prepare for the next goals.
