After five stages finishing with a sprint and knowing that only a flat stage is remaining in the Tour de Pologne (2.UWT, 9-15/08), it looks like this time trial created the most important time gaps in the general classification. A technical course guided all riders one by one through the historical centre of Katowice. The Portuguese race leader Joao Almeida managed to conserve his yellow jersey, but one of his teammates was faster. Rémi Cavagna took the victory in a time of 22:11 over 19.1 kilometer. The riders from Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux gave all they had to stay as high as possible in the general classification. Lorenzo Rota, best rider of the team, was 1:25 less fast than the winner. Rota and Quinten Hermans are now 12th and 18th in the provisional general classification.
