This Saturday between Brakel and Boortmeerbeek, the final of the Primus Classic (1.Pro, 18/09) started early, even before the peloton reached the roads of next week’s World Championships. Breakaway attempts neutralized the early breakaway of six riders. The race situation stabilized when leaving the hills zone in Overijse. Eleven leaders preceded a chasing peloton with Aimé De Gendt, Danny Van Poppel and Dries De Pooter by one minute. In the end, the breakaway was reduced to five riders who sprinted for the victory after 198 kilometer in front of the brewery. Florian Sénéchal took the win, Danny Van Poppel finished 23rd.
