This Sunday, the third and last day on Danish soil ended in a bunch sprint through the streets of Sønderborg. During this stage, only one rider rode in the front of the race for a long time, before the peloton prepared the final.
The protected rider for the sprint, Alexander Kristoff, was perfectly guided to the front in the final kilometers to start his effort in the first positions. he Norwegian rider finished just outside the top ten, taking eleventh place for the second day in a row.
« I’m proud about the way our sprint train managed to rival with the other teams in the last kilometers to bring Alexander Kristoff in an ideal position. A top five was possible, until he had to break and restart his effort. It is a pity that our result does not reflect the collective performance of our riders, but we know that the circumstances were not in our favor today. The qualities of Alexander are highlighted after a hard race and a regular sprint. He’s fit and fresh, so I’m convinced that we’ll grab other opportunities later this Tour. I’m expecting more spectacular sprints like today, because all best sprinters are present in this edition. That’s what we love to see in the Tour de France. »
