The riders under the direction of Valerio Piva took their responsibility in the third stage of the Tour du Limousin, in which the first battle between the GC favorites was expected.
Dimitri Claeys joined an early breakaway of five riders, which was joined by a counterattack of three FDJ riders halfway through the race. The Belgian rider was then the only one who was able to follow an acceleration of Madouas until the Côte de Vertougit 40 kilometer before the finish. It was on this climb that Lorenzo decided to attack and to distance the rest of the group, joining Dimitri Claeys in pursuit of Madouas. The Italian rider won two bonus seconds before everything came back together again 15 kilometer before the finish.
The winner of the Sazka Tour sprinted for the stage win in a group of ten riders. He finished sixth and is now fifth in the provisional classification with one day to go.
