16. Biniam Girmay becomes Champion of Eritrea Time Trial for the first time in the streets of Asmara.
"I only raced twice in front of my family in 2022 and those are times I cherish, regardless of the result. I still remember waiting in the car, surrounded by many supporters after finishing the national time trial championship. Once the last rider arrived, the verdict finally came: I became national champion the first time! Two days later, an incredible crowd showed up for the road race in the streets of Asmara. It would be a dream to wear the Eritrean flag in every race for a year, but it's a real challenge to win the road race against my strong compatriots. In any case, I can't wait to show my national jersey for the first time on a time trial in 2023!"
