Second top 10 in the sprint for Hugo Page

This Friday 1st of September, Hugo Page obtained his second top 10 in the Tour of Spain, his first Grand Tour, at the end of the seventh stage between Utiel and Oliva.

Team Intermarché-Circus-Wanty stayed around the young 22 year old Frenchman, the protected rider in case of a sprint in this Vuelta, to prepare him for a new bunch sprint on this parcours without any difficulty.

In the final 10 kilometer, the train made its way to the lead of the peloton until positioning Page just after the red flag. Seventh in Tarragona on day four, he finished in eight place this time in Oliva after 200 kilometer of racing.

“It was beneficial for me that the intensity of today’s stage was lower than the previous days, because after a feeling of fatigue at the start this morning it went better kilometer by kilometer. I told Boy van Poppel during the stage that I was really focused and eager to do a good performance in the sprint. My teammates were incredibly strong, we were undoubtedly the best team today in the final. With his fantastic work in the last kilometer, Boy confirmed once again that I can trust him blindly. Unfortunately, when he finished his job, I doubted a little and consequently got boxed in in the last corner so I wasn’t able to produce my effort in the sprint. It is a disappointment, because this is a missed opportunity but above all because I couldn’t reward the team. But I learned lessons and I am already looking forward to the next sprint.”
